Cambridge Guided Bus Way

Groupbridge Ltd work with Balfour Beatty to deliver the final section of the Cambridge Guided Bus Way completing the link for the station located at Chesterton, Cambridge

Works involved the construction of the new asphalt carriageway and cycle lane with two reinforced concrete pavements with associated car traps and guide rails for the buses

As part of the carriageway works new stormwater drainage was installed to adoptable standards with new connections made onto existing Anglian Water drainage networks. With a high water table found along the new route of the new section of the guided bus way a new aqua-cell attenutation tank was constructed to minimise the risks associated with flooding

The main Civil Engineering works for the scheme was located at the Milton Road junction where the existing pedestrian/cycle route underbridge was removed and a new reinforced concrete with parapet was constructed.
